BETTER THAN LAST TIME AT LINCOLN

HANOVER, PA –  (May 1o, 2012) It had been 14 years since Donny Schatz circled Lincoln Speedway in central Pennsylvania. He didn’t qualify for the main event that race back in 1998 and things were certainly better on Thursday night. Mother Nature pushed the return to the track back one night, but that didn’t keep the fans from packing the place.

Schatz took advantage of an early qualifying number and earned the second position in qualifying behind the wheel of the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All backed J&J. He finished fourth in the second heat and sixth in the dash. In the 30-lap feature event, Schatz maintained his top-10 position and ultimately worked his way up to finish seventh. The finish coupled with Sammy Swindell’s 18th-place finish moved Schatz back on top in the standings.

“We took advantage of the draw and just kind of held our own tonight,” said Schatz. “The guys that run here regularly can really get around here. Danny Dietrich won the race and I think he could have won if he started 20th. My hat goes off to those guys. Like I said we were a little better, but I wish we could do it over. I think with a few changes we could have been much more competitive. That’s racing though. Hopefully, we’ll have better nights at Williams Grove.”

Schatz will continue the three-race swing in central Pennsylvania with a pair of races at Williams Grove Speedway.  The Fargo, N.D. resident has 15 career victories at Williams Grove and he’s looking for his fourth WoO triumph in 2012.
