KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 9) – The final tune-up at Knoxville Raceway took place on Saturday night and following his fourth-place finish, Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) left with some positive notes.

The night again started with a deep draw in qualifying as Schatz went out 33rd in the field of 44 cars. He would end up 20th and started fifth in heat four. The four-time WoO champion charged forward in the heat and grabbed the second position to crack the dash lineup. In the six-lap dash, Schatz raced from ninth to sixth making passes both high and low around the half-mile dirt oval.

The race to the front in the 25-lap A-Feature was short-lived as the racing surface became locked down with rubber only a handful of laps in. Schatz went from sixth to fourth early and then was on the rear bumper of third-running Brian Brown for much of the race. With rubber down, drivers weren’t able to get out of line.

Schatz would come home fourth, which continued his strong finishes at the famed facility. He’ll return in August looking to win his sixth Knoxville Nationals A-Main.

This week, Schatz will return home to North Dakota for races Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo.
