SCHATZ CLOSES WEEKEND WITH A SIXTH IN NEW YORK

W. LEBANON, NY – (July 22) Charging forward has become the theme of 2012 for Donny Schatz. The four-time World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series champion closed a four-race week by racing to a sixth-place finish Sunday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway in W. Lebanon, N.Y.

The last four laps of Sunday’s 25-lap race saw Schatz jump from 12th to sixth and close the gap somewhat on his Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) teammate, Steve Kinser. Schatz, who drives the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet, earned his series-best 33rd top-10 finish and trails Kinser by 23 points.

On Saturday night, Schatz qualified 35th in the field of 45 entries at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. He raced from ninth to sixth in the third heat before finishing second in the C-Main. He used a provisional starting spot and climbed up to eighth by lap 19, but was put back to ninth on the restart and ended up losing two more positions because of the call. He ended up finishing 11th.

Schatz will return to Fargo this week before resuming the Outlaws 2012 campaign with four races in Canada starting Friday night at Autodrome Granby in Quebec. The tour will conclude Tuesday night at Ohsweken Speedway.
