SCHATZ ROLLS TO FIFTH IN EDMONTON

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 27) – Donny Schatz continued his top-10 streak with the World of Outlaws during this weekend’s sixth annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. Schatz was coming off a victory in his hometown of Minot and was looking to return to victory lane in Edmonton for the first time since 2007.

Schatz qualified strong both nights, ranking third Friday and second Saturday. He ran in third for 27 laps Friday night before a flat right rear tire dropped him to eighth in the final rundown. Saturday, he returned in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet J&J and after turning the second-fastest lap in qualifying he finished third and fifth in the second heat and dash. In the feature, he fell back to seventh, but climbed his way back to fourth during the final half of the race. Cody Darrah slipped past him on the final lap to steal fourth from Schatz, who ended up fifth.

The four-time WoO champion trails Craig Dollansky by 32 points heading into this week’s great northwest swing, which includes stops at Gray’s Harbor Raceway Park (Elma, Wash.), Skagit (Wash.) Speedway and Willamette (Oregon) Speedway.
