SCHATZ CLOSES 2012 ACTION WITH A SECOND IN BRISBANE

BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND – (Dec. 29) Donny Schatz made his final laps of  2012 Saturday night at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway. He led from the start of the 35-lap KRE Race Engines Sprintcar Track Championship Feature, but couldn’t hold off David “Blingy” Muir in the end. Schatz came home second in the Monte Motorsport No. 17 Miracle Recreation Equipment/KRE Race Engines backed J&J.

“Saturday was the night of seconds,” recalled Schatz, who finished 0.081 seconds behind winner Muir. “We were second quick qualifying, second highest points, second in dash, and second in the main. Track was smooth and slick all night. Hats off to the track for giving us a great track to compete on. We still haven’t got the car where it’s happy yet, but closer than Boxing night (Dec. 26).”

Schatz will return to action on New Year’s Night Tuesday. The five-time WoO champion will look to ring in the new year with a victory in advance of the two-night World Series events on Friday (Jan. 4) and Saturday (Jan. 5).

“The next time on the track will be in the new year,” said Schatz. “I’m really looking forward to 2013, and starting it in style. Happy New Year everyone.”
