KNOXVILLLE – It’s the biggest race of the season and one Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart Racing team have been preparing for this week all year. Wednesday night Schatz will kick off the 53rd annual FVP Knoxville Nationals as the event’s defending race champion and six-time winner. He’ll pilot a special STP Gas Booster No. 15 in his quest for a seventh grown.
“We’re probably as prepared as we’ve ever been coming into this week,” said Schatz, who is making his 20th Knoxville Nationals start. “These STP guys have been working so hard and the last couple of months, we’ve really been on the move. It’s a race that everyone wants to win and we know that it’s the hardest race of the year to win.”
Schatz has won both races at Knoxville this year and has won four consecutive starting with last year’s Speedsport Magazine World Challenge.
The five-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion will debut the STP Gas Booster J&J in Wednesday’s qualifying program. Points will be accumulated throughout the night as h
