BRISBANE, QLD – Donny Schatz made it two wins in row and four out of five at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane Friday night. The five-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion put another complete night together starting with setting fast time in qualifying and concluding it by leading all 20 laps of the A-Main in Round Seven of the ENZED World Series Sprintcars.

He’ll be back on Saturday night in prime position to contend for his sixth Australian Open triumph which pays the winner of the 50-lap race $20,000.

Schatz paced the field of 36 cars behind the wheel of the Monte Motorsport No. 15 Crimsafe/Gearwrench J&J and raced from 10th to sixth in the opening heat before storming from ninth to second in heat five. His point total placed him on the pole for the 20-lap A-Main, and he led the from start to finish. The Fargo, N.D., racer circled the Brisbane dirt oval with precision and was only slowed by lapped cars, but the seven-time Knoxville Nationals champion continued to show his dominance en route to the victory.

“I got caught up with those lapped cars several times,” Schatz admitted following the victory. “I thought for sure I’d run into a bit of trouble with the guys behind catching me. I ran the bottom for most of the earlier part (of the race) and when I tried to move up a bit and try something new there really wasn’t much on offer. I ended up coming back to the low line.”

In Saturday’s Australian Open finale, Schatz will run a heat race and then 50-lap A-Main. This will be his final race of his 2013/2014 Australian Tour and he’ll be looking to close it with his fifth victory.
