BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND – After closing 2015 with a pair of wins at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane, Queensland, seven-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz brought in 2016 by winning on January 1 and January 2 in Supercheap Auto USA Series events behind the wheel of the No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies/Chevrolet Performance J&J. “It’s been a really good start to our seven-race slate here in Brisbane,” admitted Schatz, who now has won 14 consecutive races at the quarter-mile dirt oval. “We’re trying some things and learning something every night. We are just trying to get better. We’re thrilled to be able to come through the field and end the night on top.”
Schatz closed 2015 with two wins and brought in 2016 in winning fashion by putting together another complete evening in his familiar No. 15 machine. The Fargo, North Dakota racer earned top honor in qualifying, won both of his heats, took the Lucas Oils dash before racing from 14th to first for the second consecutive outing. He took the lead on lap 24 of the 40-lap main event and led the rest of the way to open 2016 with a victory.
The following night, Schatz made it two for two in 2016 and four for four during this year’s action on Australian soil racing to victory from the 11th starting position. Schatz stormed into the top five in six laps and grabbed the lead on lap 11 en route to his third consecutive Darra Mechanical Hard Charger Award.
The tour continues Wednesday night with the for the Construction Solutions Sprintcar Piston Cup – $10000 to win race. Following Wednesday’s race, Schatz will close out the tour with the two-night Australian Open event Friday and Saturday night.
