KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 8, 2018) – The greatest week in Sprint Car racing is upon us. The best teams, drivers, and fans have flocked to Knoxville, Iowa for the 58th running of the 5-hour Energy Knoxville Nationals.
It’s no secret that nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, has been the driver to beat at the Knoxville Nationals over the best part of the last 15 years.
Schatz has won 10 of the last 12 Nationals and has finished first or second in 14 of the last 16. Only Steve Kinser has more Knoxville Nationals titles at 12.
Schatz is 10th on the Knoxville Raceway all-time wins list with 27 career wins at the famed Marion County Fairgrounds half-mile oval.
In his two previous starts at Knoxville this season with the World of Outlaws, Schatz has one victory followed by a runner-up finish.
