FARGO, N.D. (October 15, 2018) – Two consistent runs over the weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series yielded a pair of runner-up finishes for current series points leader, Donny Schatz.

With just six events remaining, Schatz has now extended his advantage over Kasey Kahne Racing’s Brad Sweet to 262 points atop the standings.

The weekend began with yet another rainout at Illinois’ Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night. From there, the Greatest Show on Dirt made just its second appearance in 12 years to the historic Terre Haute Action Track in southwest Indiana.

In the main event, Schatz methodically worked his way forward from the 12th starting position, utilizing the moisture on the low side of the speedway. The driver of the Tony Stewart Racing No. 15 cracked the top five just past the halfway point of the 30-lap race and moved into fourth on lap 19. Schatz quickly reeled in Daryn Pittman and Tim Shaffer, who were battling for the second position.

With three to go, both Shaffer and Schatz got by the former World of Outlaws champion, Pittman. Schatz and Shaffer battled for the runner-up spot on the final lap until a caution changed the complexion of the race, setting up a green-white-checkered finish.

With Sweet setting the pace, Schatz maneuvered around Shaffer in the first set of turns as the race resumed, but ran out of time in his pursuit of Sweet.

“We did what we could, the car was obviously rolling to get up there on an open race track. My guys did an incredible job, we wanted to get a win,” said Schatz, of his second-place effort.

By advancing 10 positions, Schatz earned the night’s KSE Hard Charger award.

For the seventh and final time this season, the World of Outlaws returned to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday. All season long, Schatz has been the odds-on favorite at the Big E, winning four of the six events, including the $50,000 Kings Royal, leading up to Sunday’s season finale at the speedway.

Schatz lined up outside of row four for the 30-lap feature and marched his way up to third just past the midway point. The Fargo, N.D. driver caught Parker Price-Miller for second in the waning laps and completed the pass on the final circuit. Schatz looked up to see his TSR teammate, Christopher Bell, a distant four seconds ahead. Bell and Schatz completed a one-two finish, respectively, for TSR on a day where Stewart-Haas Racing teammates also went one-two at Talladega Super Speedway on the NASCAR side.

Next up, the World of Outlaws will head to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas for the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout on Friday, before heading to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart Racing team would like to thank Textron Off Road, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit and J&J Auto Racing for their continued support.
