FARGO, N.D. (May 31, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series heads to Nashville, Tennessee this weekend for the inaugural Music City Outlaw Nationals at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Schatz enters the weekend atop the standings with a 48 point lead over Brad Sweet.

This weekend’s event will be the first-ever for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. No less than 181 loads of dirt, equating to approximately 7 million pounds, have been groomed into a semi-banked oval inside of the five-eighths mile asphalt oval.

A lot of big money is up for grabs this weekend. Over $150,000 is on the line over the two-night event, including $15,000-to-win on Friday’s program and $25,000-to-win on Saturday’s.

“Hats off to the Outlaws for putting together this great event and making it possible for us to race for some extra money this weekend,” said Schatz. “Nashville is a big market in the southeast so hopefully this event will continue to build for years to come.”

In just eight starts in the state of Tennessee with the World of Outlaws, Schatz has one career victory, which came on June 8th, 2001 at another pavement track that was temporarily converted to dirt; Bristol Motor Speedway.

The Outlaws were able to get all three scheduled shows in over Memorial Day weekend. The action started with the Patriot Nationals last Friday and Saturday at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. Schatz was three laps away from the victory on Saturday until the right rear tire expired on his Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15. Schatz was one of several drivers who had a right rear go down during the feature. Friday night’s program yielded a seventh-place finish for the 10-time and defending series champion.

Schatz also had a shot at the win on Monday’s Memorial Day Spectacular at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana. Schatz lined up second behind race leader Kyle Larson on a restart with seven laps to go. However, Larson took off as the race resumed and Schatz was forced to settle for second.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank Toco Warranty, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation & Security and J&J Auto Racing for their continued support.
