FARGO, N.D. (June 25, 2019) – This weekend the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars roll into the small farm town of Jackson, Minn. for one of the richest purses seen along the tour all year. The 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals is up next for the Greatest Show on Dirt, featuring three big nights of racing June 27-29 at the reconfigured three-eighths mile oval. Ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, Donny Schatz, comes in as the defending race winner.

Schatz claimed the $40,000 check last year after charging through the field and getting by the late Jason Johnson to take the lead and eventually, the win. The win came to somewhat of a surprise to Schatz as he finished no better than eighth in the two preliminary events leading up to the finale. But the Tony Stewart Racing team got the car right for the Fargo, N.D. driver and got him to the front just before the racing surface began to take rubber in the feature.

Including the 2018 Jackson Nationals title, Schatz has three career wins at Jackson Motorplex with the World of Outlaws. His first win came in 2006 after leading 21 trips around the old half-mile configuration. Win number two came in 2013 after Schatz started fifth on the grid and led 17 laps.

The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security No. 15 comes into the three-race weekend at Jackson sitting second in the World of Outlaws point standings, 54 markers behind Brad Sweet.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Jackson this weekend. That’s one of the places I ran when I was first getting started back in the early ‘90s,” said Schatz. “Last year, we struggled the first couple of nights, but we really found something that final night. It’ll be important to get a good start to the weekend on Thursday and Friday. If we can do that, I’m confident this Tony Stewart Racing team will get this Toco Warranty car dialed in for Saturday.”

In 13 starts at Jackson Motorplex with the World of Outlaws, Schatz has only one finish outside of the top 10 with an average finish of 4.5.

The World of Outlaws got one of two races in last weekend. On Saturday, the series returned to Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin for the $20,000-to-win Jim Boyd Memorial. Schatz ran as high as fourth in the main event and came home in the seventh position. Sunday’s event scheduled at Dubuque Speedway in Iowa was canceled due to rain.
