FARGO, N.D. (July 10, 2019) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series returned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin this past weekend. Donny Schatz owns five career victories at the speedway and looked to collect his sixth on Friday night, but the feature wouldn’t be completed until Saturday evening after rain soaked the track with seven laps complete.

When racing resumed, Schatz restarted in the third position and stormed into the race lead exiting turn two. Schatz led the next seven trips around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval until a hard-charging Sheldon Haudenschild took the point on lap 15 as the low side of the speedway went away for Schatz.

Schatz mounted one last challenge on Haudenschild on a restart with three laps to go, but there just wasn’t enough to get a hold of on the bottom of turn two. Schatz had to settle for second to open Saturday night’s action.

In the second and final feature of the night to wrap up the FVP Platinum Batteries Showdown at Cedar Lake Speedway, Schatz moved from 11th to seventh to collect his series-leading 31st top 10 finish out of 35 completed events.

“We had a shot at the win on the first feature, but just didn’t get it done. We’ve been getting more consistent over the last two weeks, but need to get a little bit better to start getting some wins,” said Schatz, who now has a streak of six consecutive top 10 finishes, four of which were podium finishes.

Action for the Greatest Show on Dirt continues on Friday night at Hartford, Michigan’s Hartford Speedway, followed by a visit to Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin on Saturday.

Entering this weekend’s action, Schatz sits second in the point standings, trailing leader Brad Sweet by 50 markers.

Schatz entered his third World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model event of the season on Wednesday night at ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin. The Fargo driver timed in 10th quick out of the 25 entrees and finished the 50-lap main event in the 15th spot.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank Toco Warranty, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation & Security and J&J Auto Racing for their continued support.
