ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 17, 2019) – On Friday, May 10th, Donny Schatz picked up the opening night win of #LetsRaceTwo at Eldora Speedway with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars. The Saturday night finale was postponed due to rain, but over two months later, Schatz completed the sweep. 

Schatz dominated tonight’s 30-lap main event at the Big E to record his fifth feature win of the season. 

“These Tony Stewart Racing guys threw a couple of ideas out to me before the feature. Tonight is the night to try things. We want to be spot on tomorrow night through Saturday,” said Schatz in victory lane. “We tried a few things and some worked really awesome and some things I couldn’t keep up with at times. 

“Hats off to my whole Toco Warranty team, these guys are incredible. I’m happy to get the win tonight. Hopefully, we can come back tomorrow and keep it rolling.”

Schatz started fourth on the grid and used the middle of the race track to move by David Gravel for the third position on lap two. The 10-time and defending series champion then set his sights on Carson Macedo for the runner-up spot. Schatz moved by Macedo on lap five before driving underneath Brad Sweet for the lead. 

Schatz endured two restarts around the midway point before checking out and cruising to his second Eldora Speedway win of 2019.

“Nobody sees the work my team puts in day in and day out. Even though we won a race tonight, they are going to go to bed tonight thinking about how things can get better. That’s what it takes. A lot of teams do that too, but these guys are incredible at what they do,” said Schatz. “It’s a pleasure to drive this race car.”

Racing continues at Eldora Speedway Thursday, July 18th with the Joker’s Wild, followed by the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday, July 19th and the $175,000-to-win Kings Royal on Saturday, July 20th. 

With his 288th career win, Schatz has cut Brad Sweet’s points lead to 30 points.
