BRISBANE, Queensland (December 28, 2019) – Donny Schatz is now two for two in action at Archerfield Speedway in his 2019/20 swing down under. Schatz was in action on Saturday at the semi-banked quarter-mile oval and swept the entire night.
The Fargo, N.D. driver set the fastest time in qualifying by being the only driver to lay down a lap in the 11-second bracket. From there he cruised to wins in his heat and the pole shootout.
Schatz accepted the BK Trading Challenge, which inverted the top 14 positions in the starting lineup for the main event.
“I had to move around the track and see what my car was doing. Usually, when we do stuff to the car, the car changes quite a bit from the start of the race to the finish. Tonight, with the changes we made, the car stayed pretty even keel the whole way through,” said Schatz after the race. “It was a great night. It’s rare when you can have a balanced car throughout the entire night, but this car was good every time it hit the track.”
After starting 14th, Schatz moved forward to take the point on lap 22. Once out front, he never looked back.
Schatz’s win marks the fifth time in the last six years in which Schatz has ended the calendar year with a victory. The 10-time World of Outlaws champion will return to action on New Years Day at Archerfield Speedway.
