FARGO, N.D. (March 11, 2020) – After over a month off since the last checkered flag flew for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, the series is set to return to action this weekend with a pair of events in the Lone Star State.
The action begins tonight (March 13) at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, followed by a visit to LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas on Saturday, March 14.
Cotton Bowl Speedway is one of the few tracks on the World of Outlaws circuit at which Donny Schatz has yet to visit victory lane.
In two previous starts at Cotton Bowl, Schatz has collected two top 10 finishes, including a best finish of fifth at the World of Outlaws’ inaugural visit to the speedway in 2016.
On the other hand, Schatz is the most recent winner at LoneStar Speedway and the only full-time World of Outlaws driver to have a victory to his credit at the high-banked three-eighths mile oval. That win came in 2017 on a night where Schatz started on the pole and led all 35 laps.
“We’ve had a few weeks off since the season opener at Volusia so I’m excited to get back behind the wheel this weekend,” said Schatz. “Cotton Bowl and LoneStar are a couple of fun tracks. We’ve had some really good runs at LoneStar in the past. That is a fun track that is awful fast and provides some exciting racing for both the drivers and the fans.”
Entering this weekend’s action, Schatz is tied for third in the point standings with Daryn Pittman, 14 markers behind point leader Brad Sweet.
Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thanks all of their great partners for their continued support!
