FARGO, N.D. (May 27, 2020) – Following a pair of events in the “Show-Me” state over Memorial Day weekend, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will stay in Missouri this coming weekend for another doubleheader.

On Friday, May 29th and Saturday, May 30th, Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. will host the Greatest Show on Dirt. Donny Schatz has one career victory at the semi-banked one-third mile oval, which came on May 4, 2018. In two visits to Lake Ozark last season, Schatz’s best finish came in his first appearance, which was a third-place run on April 26th.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Lake Ozark this weekend,” said Schatz. “It’s a fun, racy track and we’ve had some success there in the past.”

Donny Schatz passed a combined total of 21 cars during feature action last weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. On Friday night, Schatz rolled off 11th for the main event and worked his way forward to take the checkers in the seventh position.

The following night, Schatz went out for qualifying late in Flight A. Over the course of the qualifying group, the track dried up and speeds slowed by over a second. Schatz qualified 21st out of 32 in Flight A, which relegated him to a non-qualifier heat.

The 10-time World of Outlaws champion cruised to the non-qualifier heat win to earn himself the 11th starting position in heat race number one. With the top five transferring, Schatz advanced four positions to finish seventh and followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the last chance showdown.

Having to use a rare World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series provisional, Schatz lined up in the 25th starting position for the 40-lap, $20,000-to-win main event.

Schatz had his elbows up in the feature, moving his way up the running order from the drop of the green flag. By race’s end, Schatz passed 17 competitors to finish in the eighth position and earn the night’s KSE Hard Charger award. In doing so, Schatz remained perfect on the season in the category of the top tens through the first six events.

“It was a solid weekend overall for this Advance Professional / Ford Performance team,” said Schatz. “We got behind the eight-ball early on Saturday, but Scuba, Brad and Jakob kept working on the car all night long. The car felt great in the feature. I think if we could have started a little further up, we could have been a real contender, but I’m really proud of their effort.”

Schatz moved from fourth to third in the points standings after I-55 and now sits 34 markers behind leader Logan Schuchart.

Fans can watch both races from Lake Ozark Speedway this weekend live on DIRTVision.com.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
