Schatz records top 10 at Jackson Nationals, Cedar Lake tripleheader up next

FARGO, N.D. (June 30, 2020) – The Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15 team is gearing up for a historical three-race swing at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. this coming weekend. For the first time ever, both the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series will invade the legendary three-eighth mile oval on the same weekend for three consecutive nights, beginning on Thursday, July 2nd. 

Donny Schatz has five career World of Outlaws feature wins at Cedar Lake Speedway. Those wins have come in streaks for Schatz. His most recent win came in 2016 and capped off a string of wins in three consecutive years at the speedway. The Fargo driver also scored back-to-back wins in 2008 and 2009. 

Since 2014, Schatz has rattled off 11 consecutive top 10 finishes at Cedar Lake – 10 of which have been finishes inside the top five. 

Schatz currently sits second in the point standings, 66 points behind leader Brad Sweet. 

Schatz picked up a top 10 finish at the Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex last weekend. In the $30,000-to-win finale, the 10-time series champion moved from the 10th starting position to capture an eighth-place finish. 

Schatz’s best run of the three-day event came on Friday when he worked his way from the 12th on the grid to claim a top five finish. 

The Independence Day Spectacular at Cedar Lake Speedway will feature three nights of racing complete with a pair of 20-lap/$3,000-to-win main events on Thursday, followed by back-to-back $20,000-to-win main events on Friday and Saturday. In addition, portions of Saturday’s finale will be broadcast live on CBS Sports.
