FARGO, N.D. (July 21, 2020) – With the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway being canceled this season, that gave 10-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz a rare off-weekend. Schatz took the opportunity to bring out his Schatz Crossroads / Petro Stopping Centers Late Model as the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series were making a swing through Schatz’s home state of North Dakota.

The weekend began at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo with 32 Late Models checked in for action. Schatz finished fourth in his heat race to start the night, which put him 15th on the grid for the 50-lap main event.

Schatz rode in the tire tracks of Scott Bloomquist for nearly the entire feature as both veteran drivers worked their way up the running order. At the checkers, Schatz crossed the line in 10th, collecting his sixth career top 10 with the World of Outlaws Late Models.

On Sunday, the Schatz Motorsports team made the 75-mile trip north to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. for the rescheduled World of Outlaws event from Friday. Starting eighth on the grid for another 50-lapper, Schatz again worked his way through the field. The Fargo driver got as high as fifth place while battling with Dennis Erb, Jr. for fourth in the second half of the event, but was relegated back to sixth as three-time NLRA series champion Dustin Strand snuck by Schatz on the final lap.

“It was a great weekend racing the late model at our home tracks. It’s a lot of fun to just be able to go out and race and not worry about the things that come with running for a championship,” said a happy Schatz after the race on Sunday. “Zach, George and Trevor did a great job all weekend. I’m really proud of the effort they put into this program.”

The entire Donny Schatz Motorsports team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
