FARGO, N.D. (September 9, 2020) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series is headed to Kansas this weekend for the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park. This weekend was originally scheduled to be the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., then it was slated for the Outlaws’ return to I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., however, COVID-19 restrictions forced the cancelation for both speedways.

Donny Schatz has the most wins at Dodge City Raceway Park out of any active World of Outlaws driver and is tied for the most wins in Outlaws history at the speedway with Joey Saldana. Both drivers have visited victory lane five times.

Most recently, Schatz took the checkered flag on night one of the Boot Hill Showdown last year. The 10-time champion followed that up with a third place finish the following night.

Schatz has competed in 25 events at the semi-banked three-eighths mile oval and has collected 13 top fives along with 20 top 10s. Schatz has only finished outside of the top 10 once at Dodge City since 2012.

Schatz will be looking to build off of that past success to cut into Brad Sweet’s point lead. The defending series champion currently sits 80 points ahead of Schatz in the standings. Schatz is also 64 points behind Logan Schuchart.

Last weekend the World of Outlaws made their highly anticipated return to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D. Unfortunately, the first night of action on Saturday was marred by a heavily rubbered up race track. In total, 22 drivers blew right rear tires during the 35-lap feature. Schatz was one of them, but he rebounded to finish in the sixth position.

On Sunday, Schatz transferred into the main event by finishing in the fifth and final transfer spot in his heat. That put Schatz back in the 20th starting position for the main event.

On a much better racing surface, Schatz was able to work his way forward. He cracked the top 10 on lap 27 of 35 and continued forward to finish in the eighth position to earn the night’s KSE Hard Charger award.

Both events this weekend from Dodge City Raceway Park can be seen live on DIRTVision.com.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
