SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (January 20, 2021) – The 2021 season is officially underway for 10-time World of Outlaws champion, Donny Schatz. The Fargo, N.D. driver opened his season in his Schatz Crossroads Rocket XR1 No. 15 Late Model at the Wild West Shootout at Arizona Speedway. 

Facing some of the country’s top Late Model talent, Schatz qualified for all six main events by way of his heat race and avoided having to run a B-main all week. 

Schatz’s best run came on Wednesday, January 13th when he charged from 13th to pick up a top 10 finish. 

“It’s a lot of fun racing the Late Model. That’s what is all about. It’s a different challenge and we race with some really great guys,” said Schatz. “Zach, Lannie, George, Shawn and Justin worked hard all week and we made improvements to the car each night. It was a lot of fun having Amelia and Laela helping us out the first weekend, too.” 

Schatz finished 12th in points for the mini-series out of 68 total competitors.
