FARGO, N.D. (April 12, 2021) – An interesting weekend lies ahead for Donny Schatz and his Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing team. The upcoming doubleheader in Oklahoma and Texas features a track at which Schatz has only one start, and another where he will be making career start number 41 on Saturday.
First up is Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma on Friday, April 16th. Lawton Speedway was one of the tracks on the schedule during the Outlaws’ inaugural season in 1978, but just last year the series returned to the speedway after a 35-year hiatus.
In that event last year, Schatz raced to a sixth-place finish.
On Saturday, April 17, $20,000 will be on the line at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas for the Texas Outlaw Nationals. Schatz, a two-time winner of the Texas Outlaw Nationals in 2018 and 2014, brings in a streak of nine top 10 finishes in the last 10 events at Devil’s Bowl, dating back to 2014.
Over that span, he has an average finish of 5.7 including three wins.
The Carquest / Ford Performance team is looking to rebound this weekend after some tough luck. Last Friday night at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, Schatz was running solidly in fifth during the feature when issues under the hood forced the 10-time champion back to the trailer early.
On Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, Schatz started 21st and finished 16th in the main event.
Schatz will enter this weekend’s races sitting seventh in points, 184 markers behind leader Brad Sweet.
Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
