FARGO, N.D. (May 25, 2021) – Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing team have found some consistency over the past six weeks and those results are starting to be seen in the point standings.

Since the World of Outlaws visited Bristol Motor Speedway on April 23 and 25, Schatz has collected 10 top-10 finishes over that span which consists of 11 events. Of those 10 top-10 finishes, eight of them were results inside the top five.

As a result, Schatz has worked his way from sixth in the point standings up to fourth entering Memorial Day weekend.

Up next on the schedule are two Indiana tracks at which Schatz has enjoyed plenty of success; Terre Haute Action Track on Friday and Lawrenceburg Speedway on Monday.

In his last three appearances at Terre Haute, dating back to 2014, Schatz has finished either first or second. He scored two runner-up finishes in 2020 and 2018. The 2020 result came from the 23rd starting position.

Schatz scored his first and only win at Terre Haute in 2014, starting on the pole and leading all 25 laps.

The 10-time series champion has three career wins at Lawrenceburg Speedway coming in 2009, 2013, and 2014. Over his last 10 trips to the unique three-eighths mile oval, Schatz’s average finish is a stout 3.3. His last three results at the speedway are two runner-up finishes and a third.

The World of Outlaws kicked off their three-race week on Tuesday last week with a trip to Bridgeport Motorsports Park. Schatz turned in another top-five effort with a fourth-place finish.

On Friday, the series returned to Attica Raceway Park where Schatz nearly captured that elusive 300th win. Started seventh, Schatz broke into the top three early in the race and bided his time before challenging for the lead.

Schatz made a run at leaders David Gravel and Sheldon Haudenschild late in the going and capitalized on Haudenschild’s misfortune to move into the runner-up spot. Schatz had a shot at Gravel on a green-white-checkered restart but came away with a second-place finish.

“These Carquest guys are digging, doing everything they can. We’ll get there,” said a determined Schatz after the race on Friday. “It’s just taking a little longer than we all anticipated. Thankfully, we have the best support system in the world. They know what we are capable of. We aren’t showing it right now, but that’s the way this game is. It’s better some days than others.”

Schatz wrapped up the weekend with a drive from 19th to 11th on Saturday at Sharon Speedway.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
