FARGO, N.D. (July 26, 2022) – It was an up-and-down week in Pennsylvania for Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart Racing No. 15 team. The week began on Wednesday at Port Royal Speedway where Schatz had a strong night going until an issue, not of the doing of Schatz or the team, resulted in a 19th place finish.

Schatz set Quick Time to start the night – his first of the season – and followed that up with a heat race victory and second place run in the dash to earn a front row starting position for the feature.

However, soon after the feature went green, Schatz began fading back in the pack. Schatz continued to drop positions until the checkers flew on the 30-lapper. After the race, it was very apparent why as the left rear tire delaminated during the race, meaning the tire lost at least half of its tred.

Tire issues have been seen across the country in dirt racing this year, but this is the first major instance Schatz has encountered.

The Advanced Auto Parts / Ford Performance team regrouped for the weekend doubleheader at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. and came home with a respectable seventh place run on Friday night.

A big $20,000 check was up for grabs on Saturday’s Summer Nationals finale and once again Schatz rose to the occasion, challenging for the win.

After a heat win and a second place finish in the dash, Schatz started alongside Sheldon Haudenschild on the front row for the feature.

Schatz ran second early on and kept heavy pressure on Haudenschild throughout the race.

Schatz remained in second until there were six laps to go as both Brad Sweet and Danny Dietrich were able to sneak by. Schatz took the checkers in fourth to end the weekend on a strong note.

Saturday was also a milestone night for Schatz as he made his 2,000th career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series start.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars head to Weedsport Speedway in New York this weekend for a two-race stink at the three-eighths mile D-shaped oval.

Schatz currently sits sixth in the standings, 190 points out of the lead but just 12 points behind fifth place Logan Schuchart.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
