FARGO, N.D. (October 26, 2022) – The 60th running of the National Open was completed on Saturday night, a few weeks later than originally scheduled. Forty-four World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competitors were checked in for action.

Donny Schatz began the night by timing in eighth quick in Group A of qualifying, but ran into trouble during the heat race. Engine issues forced Schatz to retire from the heat race early and put him in the Last Chance Showdown.

Schatz started on the pole and picked up a convincing win to earn the 21st starting position in the $75,000-to-win main event.

The driver of the Carquest / Ford Performance No. 15 had a great drive during the 40-lapper, moving up to 11th at the checkers and nearly scoring a position inside the top 10 on the final lap.

Sheldon Haudenschild suffered issues during the feature, which gave Schatz some breathing room in the battle for fourth in the series point standings. He now has a 24 point cushion heading into the season-ending World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
