FARGO, N.D. (April 18, 2023) – It looked as though Donny Schatz was about to turn his luck around last Friday night at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 with a solid top five run, however, on a restart during the feature, Schatz went for a rare tumble to bring his night to a premature end.

Schatz had a great run in his heat race earlier in the night, driving from fifth to second, earning a spot in the dash.

Schatz started third for the 40-lap feature and was in a fierce battle for position inside the top five early on with Brad Sweet, Carson Macedo, David Gravel and Sheldon Haudenschild.

On a restart with 13 to go, Schatz got into the turn one wall and went for a nasty ride, getting hit by Robbie Price while upside down. Schatz was able to climb out of the mangled Carquest / Ford Performance machine under his own power and the Tony Stewart Racing team immediately went to work getting the backup car prepared for Saturday’s event.

Rain would cancel Saturday’s event, however.

The Midwest swing continues this weekend with a doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway.

After being credited for 17th on Friday at I-55, Schatz will go into Knoxville sitting ninth in the standings 162 points out of the lead.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
