FARGO, N.D. (May 16, 2023) – Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15 team are finding their groove. Schatz picked up another podium finish over the weekend – his third in the last four World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series events.
The Outlaws were at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on Friday for night one of the Morgan Cup. Schatz rolled off sixth on the grid for the 25 lapper.
The driver of the Carquest / Ford Performance-powered J&J filed into seventh in the early going before taking advantage of a restart on lap seven. Schatz propelled himself from seventh to fourth in a lap in a half and closed in on a podium position.
A few laps later, Schatz powered around Rico Abreu for third.
Schatz was just as quick as the leaders in the late stages but went on to cross the checkers in third.
“The Carquest guys keep taking big swings at it,” said Schatz of the setup on his No. 15 machine. “We made up some spots, though, and that’s what counts. I just can’t get slowed down when I need to slow down, then when I do get slowed down, I can’t get speeded back up. But we are digging and working on it. These guys have done a great job.”
The Outlaws were in action on Wednesday night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, where Schatz recorded an 11th place finish.
This weekend, the Greatest Show on Dirt heads back to Ohio with stops at Attica Raceway Park and Sharon Speedway.
Entering the weekend, Schatz currently sits sixth in the standings, 186 points out of the lead and just two points behind Sheldon Haudenschild in fifth.
Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
