FARGO, N.D. (February 13, 2024) – The Carquest / Ford Performance / Tony Stewart Racing No. 15 piloted by Donny Schatz was fast all weekend at Volusia Speedway Park’s DIRTcar Nationals, which served as the opener for the 2024 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season.
Over four nights of competition, Schatz gained 29 positions during feature action, highlighted by his drive from 18th to sixth on Friday which gave him the night’s KSE Hard Charger award.
Schatz had an equally impressive run through the field the night before as he wheeled his way from 16th to fifth on Thursday night, marking his highest finish of the week.
The 10-time series champion displayed incredible consistency throughout the week, finishing between fifth and seventh in all four nights of racing against a stout 45-plus car field.
That consistency has Schatz sitting tied for fifth in the World of Outlaws standings, 20 points behind leader David Gravel. When the High Limit Racing drivers are factored out of the points, Schatz is the third among full-time World of Outlaws drivers and sits 10 points behind second place Gio Scelzi.
After an exciting opening week, the World of Outlaws season is now on hold until March 3-4 when the Greatest Show on Dirt will return to Volusia Speedway Park for the Bike Week Jamboree. That will start a stretch of 10 races in 27 days in March that will include the states of Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
