Fargo, N.D. (May 16, 2024) – Donny Schatz remains in title contention as he heads back to Ohio this weekend to compete with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in his CarQuest / Ford Performance No. 15 at Attica Raceway Park on Friday and Sharon Speedway on Saturday.

Due to more inclement weather which has followed the series around the country to begin the 2024 campaign, it’s been over a week since Schatz last took to the track at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA.

Schatz started the night with the fastest time in time trials, edging out fellow title contender David Gravel for the top spot on the pilon.

Schatz backed up his quick time with a heat race win but a poor pill draw set up a fourth row starting spot in the dash and for the 35-lap main event.

Schatz remained in the second half of the top ten for the majority of the race but went on a late charge following a pair of red flags in the closing circuits. Schatz took fifth from Buddy Kofoid between the reds to score his ninth top five of the season.

Both races scheduled for last weekend at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA were canceled due to rain.

Schatz and the rest of the Outlaws head back west to Ohio for two nights of action this weekend. Friday night the series visits Attica Raceway Park where Schatz has five wins and 11 top tens in 17 previous races at the one-third mile oval.

Saturday night sees the series return to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH. Schatz won one of the two visits the series made to the three-eights mile oval last season. Last year’s victory was his first in 12 starts at the track.

Schatz heads into the weekend just 58 markers back of David Gravel in his quest for an 11th series championship.
