FARGO, N.D. (June 5, 2024) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series rolls into Donny Schatz’s backyard for the first time of the 2024 season this weekend with trips to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. on Friday and Ogilvie Raceway in Minnesota on Saturday.
Schatz’s track record at River Cities is unrivaled. In 31 starts, Schatz has collected 12 wins and has never finished outside of the top 10 in what can be a treacherous high-banked quarter-mile bullring. Additionally, he has recorded 22 podium finishes, 25 top fives, and perhaps most impressively, has an average finish of 2.7.
From 2013 to 2019, Schatz won every year at River Cities and had three season sweeps during that span.
His most recent win at River Cities came in 2019 and has collected three third place finishes since then.
In total, Schatz has 20 career wins at the Grand Forks speedway between World of Outlaws and Northern Outlaw Sprint Association 410 competition. Schatz’s first career 410 win came at River Cities on May 6, 1994.
The Outlaws roll east on Saturday to Ogilvie Raceway for their second-ever appearance. In last year’s debut, Schatz came away with a third place finish.
Schatz was in action over the weekend with the Outlaws at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Schatz collected a sixth place finish in the feature on Friday after running third in the dash, second in his heat and 6th overall in qualifying. Saturday’s finale was postponed due to rain.
Entering this weekend, Schatz is third in the standings, 58 markers behind leader David Gravel.
