Fargo, N.D. (June 24, 2024) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car season continues to be plagued by weather issues as three of the four nights of the High Bank Hustle and High Bank Nationals at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD were postponed after heavy rains caused the nearby Splitrock Creek to flood the facility early Friday Morning.
Schatz, who finished 12th on Wednesday night at Huset’s Speedway in the No. 15 CarQuest / Ford Performance J&J before the rains came, joined the rest of his family, making the five-hour trip north to get some racing in as he coached his nieces Laela and Amelia Eisenschenk as they raced with the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
Laela, who charged from sixth to second in the IMCA Sprint Car feature at Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN Thursday night, made her 410 debut at the quarter-mile oval Friday night and was joined by Amelia as she ran her 305 with the Grand Forks-based 410 series.
Amelia had mechanical issues and didn’t start on Friday but Laela improved from her 12th starting spot to finish ninth. On Saturday night Amelia made her 410 debut, finishing 12th in qualifying just behind Laela. Both started on the front row of their heat races with Laela finishing second and Amelia finishing third.
Laela made the re-draw and started seventh with Amelia starting 10th. Both ran in and around the top ten throughout the 25-lap feature with Laela scoring her second top ten of the weekend with her tenth place finish and was followed to the checkers with Amelia finishing 11th.
This week, Schatz and the Outlaws head to the Badger State as the series is set to return to the three-eighths mile Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Schatz has competed with the Outlaws at Cedar Lake every year since 1996 and has five wins, 16 top fives, and 25 top tens in 34 previous races at the facility.
Schatz also has six WISSOTA 360 wins at the track including four in 1996 which helped him win the WISSOTA National Championship the year before he became a full-time Outlaw. Schatz heads into the weekend just 56 points back of David Gravel in his quest for an 11th series title.
Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support – Carquest Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, Curb Records, Ford Performance, Sage Fruit, Mobil 1, Absolute Automation & Security, J&J Auto Racing, Elliott’s Custom Trailers & Carts
