FARGO, N.D. (September 25, 2024) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series completed its California swing over the weekend with the running of the Dennis Roth Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare.

Donny Schatz found himself deep in the heat race lineup on Friday and Saturday but found his way into the main event each night.

Friday night’s route the A-main got exciting on the final lap of the last chance showdown as Garrett Williamson threw a big slider on the Carquest / Ford Performance No. 15 in turns three and four. Williamson bounced his right rear off the turn four wall and ricocheted into Schatz. With nowhere to go, Schatz drove over the front end of Williamson coming out of the corner with the checkered flag in sight.

Schatz limped his Ford-powered J&J across the finish line in the fourth and final transfer spot.

The 10-time series champion then put on an impressive drive, going from 24th to 16th in the 30-lap feature.

Schatz had his elbows up again on Saturday as he rolled off 19th for the 35-lap, $83,000-to-win Dennis Roth Classic main event. Schatz worked his way up to seventh before the track locked down with rubber just past the halfway point.

The Outlaws now trek east to Ohio for a pair of shows this weekend. Wayne County Speedway is up first on Friday night. In his only World of Outlaws start at the speedway, Schatz recorded a fourth-place finish in 2020.

On Saturday, the Outlaws return to Sharon Speedway, a track that has become one of Schatz’s best over the last few seasons. In his previous four appearances dating back to 2022, Schatz has a win and a pair of runner-up finishes.

Schatz will look to continue that momentum as he enters the weekend third in the standings, 170 points behind leader David Gravel.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support – Carquest Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, Curb Records, Ford Performance, Sage Fruit, Mobil 1, Absolute Automation & Security, J&J Auto Racing, Elliott’s Custom Trailers & Carts
