FARGO, N.D. (May 5, 2025) – Donny Schatz picked up his best result of the 2025 season on Friday night at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Schatz worked his way forward to finish second in the 30-lap feature and was a threat for the win at the end of the race.
Schatz began the night going 14th quick in qualifying before finishing third in his heat, just missing a transfer into the dash by one position.
That put him 10th on the grid for the night’s main event.
Schatz began picking off cars right from the start. By lap two, he ran eighth and found himself inside the top five by lap 10. A restart on lap 11 helped propel the driver of the Advance Auto Parts / Curb Records No. 15 into the fourth position. From there, Schatz drove by Cole Macedo before engaging in a great battle with Zach Hampton for second with 10 to go.
Schatz reeled in leader, David Gravel, in the closing stages but ran out of time as Gravel went on to take the win over Schatz.
“Everything seemed to be working tonight. We could really run anywhere,” said Schatz post-race. “It’s fun to be able to see the leader, get to him, and get through lapped traffic. But the longer I ran, the worse I got. Hats off to the whole Carquest group. Man, they are working hard, but they just haven’t gotten the results. Tonight is a good one and we were a contender.”
The Outlaws head to Pennsylvania next with stops at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown on Wednesday, before a doubleheader at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday and Saturday.
