BARBERVILLE, Florida (February 10, 2026) – There were many questions surrounding Donny Schatz and his new team, CJB Motorsports, entering the 2026 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season at Volusia Speedway Park.
But after three top-10 finishes in three nights, including a top-five finish and a KSE Hard Charger Award, many of those questions were answered.
Opening night of the Sprint Car portion of the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile began with Schatz having to dig out of a hole after a mechanical issue during his heat race. Schatz was forced to exit the heat race early and was slated to start on the outside of the front row for the Last Chance Showdown.
Schatz amassed more than a three-and-a-half-second lead during the Last Chance Showdown en route to the win. He went on to put on another show during the Feature, charging from 21st to fifth and making a huge statement in his first race with crew chief Barry Jackson and Pennsylvania-based CJB Motorsports. Schatz briefly held a podium position during the 25-lap Feature, but untimely cautions shuffled the driver of the No. 15 back to fifth at the checkers.
After Thursday’s rainout, action resumed Friday night, and it was the same song, second verse for Schatz. The 10-time Series champion charged from seventh to pick up a commanding Last Chance Showdown win. Starting 21st on the grid once again, Schatz delivered a similar performance to Wednesday night, climbing all the way to sixth.
On Saturday night, Schatz drew a low pill number, which is usually favorable for qualifying. However, a very heavy racing surface made for slower times early on, which buried Schatz in the final qualifying results. Schatz grabbed the final transfer position in his heat race to start 19th in the weekend’s final Feature. In another strong run, Schatz advanced nine positions to round out the top 10.
Overall, Schatz gained 40 positions in Feature competition alone over the three nights at Volusia Speedway Park. He currently sits seventh in the World of Outlaws point standings, just 24 markers behind leader Buddy Kofoid.
The Outlaws are off for a couple of weeks before returning to Volusia Speedway Park on March 1–2 for the Bike Week Jamboree.
