Fargo, N.D. (April 9, 2024) – Donny Schatz kicked off the month of April with a charge from row four to a second place finish last Friday night in the No. 15 CarQuest / Ford Performance J&J at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, MO before completing the weekend with a debut appearance with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, OK.

Schatz was third quick in his qualifying group and second in his heat race which put Schatz in the dash. Finishing seventh in the dash, Schatz lined up on the inside of the fourth row for the 35-lap main event.

Schatz battled Roth Motorsports teammates Buddy Kofoid and James McFadden on laps 13 and 14, passing Kofoid first then McFadden on the next circuit to move up to fourth. Schatz then moved into a podium position at the midway point, passing Tyler Courtney for third. 

Schatz held the second spot through the open red on lap 24 and was chasing down David Gravel in traffic when the final red flag stopped the race with four laps to go. 

Schatz finished as the runner-up, his best finish at the US 36 quarter-mile in his seventh appearance there.

Schatz and the Outlaws headed back to Oklahoma Saturday for the series debut at Arrowhead Speedway. Schatz got better as the night went on, falling just short of keeping his season-long top ten streak alive after improving from his 15th place starting spot to finish 11th.

Schatz continues to hold the second spot in the series standings as the Outlaws head to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, MO for a pair of shows this weekend. In 59 races that Schatz has run at the three-tenths mile oval that sits just a half-hour from the St. Louis metro, Schatz has two career victories and just under a seventh place average finish since his first appearance at the track in May of 1997.

Schatz is just 40 points behind David Gravel in his quest for an 11th series championship.
