FARGO, N.D. (July 2, 2024) – Last weekend’s two-night Independence Spectacular at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin was shortened to one after rain washed out Friday’s action.
The Carquest / Ford Performance No. 15 driven by Donny Schatz was fast once things got going on Saturday.
Schatz timed in 10th quick before finishing fourth in his heat race, putting him 10th on the grid for the 30-lap feature.
As the green flag on the feature flew, Schatz quickly jumped up to the sixth position. There, he found himself battling with Gio Scelzi for much of the race early on.
The feature was slowed several times for yellow and red flags, keeping the field bunched up throughout the race.
With two to go, Schatz made a great move to get by Buddy Kofoid and Carson Macedo to move into the fourth position and collect his 15th top five finish of the 2024 season.

Schatz is currently second in the point standings as the Outlaws head into a rare off weekend.
The schedule picks up back up next week, however, with a stop at Beaver Dam Raceway on Wednesday for the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial before two nights at Wilmot (WI) Raceway on Friday and Saturday.
